There is ever-increasing awareness of both the prevalence of trauma in the school-aged population and the impact such experiences have on the developing brain. The impact has a profound effect on children’s ability to regulate their emotions, manage their behavior, and learn the academic material. This presentation will help nurses, counselors, and other school staff to:
-
Appreciate the prevalence of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) and their impact on health and cognitive development
-
Recognize behavior and learning difficulties among students which can be indicative of trauma reactions
-
Understand the elements of trauma sensitive schools, and how to implement them in their district.

During the '22-'23 school year we must charge a $200 speaker’s fee. Scholarships may be available. Your support for state funding will help us return to offering presentations at no charge.
