Many of the physical symptoms children express and seek out the school nurse for are caused and/or exacerbated by psychological and emotional factors.  This presentation will help nurses, counselors, and other school staff learn to:

• Understand the relationship between physical symptoms and mental/emotional stressors.

• Recognize the potential for the development of Somatic Symptom Disorders, and take steps to reduce this risk.

• Respond effectively to such symptoms to facilitate student’s emotional insight and empowerment.

• Discuss and develop practical steps to take in the school and classroom setting to reduce the impact of these symptoms on the educational environment.

During the '22-'23 school year we must charge a $200 speaker’s fee.  Scholarships may be available.  Your support for state funding will help us return to offering presentations at no charge.​
