Self Injurious Behavior - title - circle.jpg

Nonsuicidal Self Injury is the intentional infliction of physical pain or injury on oneself, as a method of coping with extreme emotional distress.  It is a frequent problem among teenagers.  Many people find this issue extremely troubling, and difficulty understanding the behavior can lead to reactions which trigger further distress.  This presentation will help nurses, counselors, and other school staff:

  • Understand the causes of Nonsuicidal Self Injury.

  • Recognize signs of Nonsuicidal Self Injury, and how it differs from suicidal behavior.

  • Respond compassionately to students struggling with this issue.

  • Develop appropriate and effective school policies to address such behavior.

During the '22-'23 school year we must charge a $200 speaker’s fee.  Scholarships may be available.  Your support for state funding will help us return to offering presentations at no charge.
