LGBTQ Issues - title - circle_edited.png

Great progress has been made in securing equal human rights for people who are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and/or Transgender.  Nevertheless, youth report continued harassment and bullying in school, and the LGBT community continues to suffer dramatically higher rates of homelessness, depression and other mental illnesses, and failure to graduate.  This presentation will help nurses, counselors, and other school staff to:

  • Understand the diverse gender and relationship orientations possible among students

  • Recognize overt and subtle forms of harassment, bullying, and stigmatizing

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive school culture.

  • Develop school policies to support LGBTQ youth.

During the '22-'23 school year we must charge a $200 speaker’s fee.  Scholarships may be available.  Your support for state funding will help us return to offering presentations at no charge.
